Parents of all the students are encouraged to join in the life of the school.
We hold a parents' forum meeting every half term to facilitate and improve communication between school and parents/carers and to enable parents/carers to contribute to school improvement.
The Primary Phase invite parents to attend Friday morning assemblies, and hold a social coffee morning afterwards once a month; see the Primary Phase notice boards for details.
WHGS also has an active Parents' Association who organise social and fundraising events. For details about the Parents' Association see their page under "Info for Parents" or look on their noticeboards outside the main reception and the Primary Phase playground.
Here are some of the things the parents have said about the school:
"The teachers work really hard to offer a lot to the children and to get the best from them."
"I'm impressed at how friendly the school is. When you meet the staff you realise how well they know the children - and how they strive to make a relationship with the parents too."
"Parental expectations are high and students expect to do well"
"The intake is truly comprehensive. The banding [at admission] works well."
"There is very little bullying compared with other secondary schools"
