WHGS student enjoys International Recognition
Akbar Sickder, a sixth form student at William Hulme's Grammar School, has had a bi-lingual article accepted by 'Languages of Thunder', an association based in Brest which organizes the Fête des langues du Monde - a celebration of languages, on the city's Liberty Plaza.
Each year a multilingual book 'Ecritures en partage', is published for the occasion which includes thirty to forty texts in as many languages, each with a French translation. The article is written in the students' native language and then translated by them into French, both of which are forwarded to the project. The articles are picked for the publication out of the many submitted.
Each year there is a new theme and for the 2008 edition it is : 'Gracias a la vida!', or 'Thanks to life!', inspired by Violeta's Spanish song. Thanks for this beautiful sun, thanks to have met you, thanks for my able hands, thanks for my long travel, thanks for the islands on the sea, thanks for the words that save..'
