December 2015
Message from the Principal -
Mr P Mulholland
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank
you for your support, and congratulate our staff
and students for another excellent term’s work.
As you are aware, we are emphasising and
enforcing our high standards and expectations
from January 2016, and we believe that this
drive will make our school outstanding.
In addition, GCSE and A Level students will have
mocks next half-term and it is vital that all our
students prepare thoroughly and attend every
additional revision session.
I hope that you all have
a merry Christmas and a
relaxing holiday.”
Manchester Homeless Shoebox
For most people, December is a time of happiness.
Whilst the days are getting darker and colder,
for many, this signifies a time to be spent with
friends and loved ones, celebrating the last year
and looking forward to the year ahead.
Sadly, this is not the case for everyone. The number
of people who are homeless in Manchester
has doubled in the last year. The city has more
rough sleepers than anywhere outside London.
For these individuals, December means freezing
nights, sleeping rough, hunger and loneliness.
This year, William Hulme’s Grammar School took
part in theManchester Homeless Shoe BoxAppeal.
We managed to collect a fantastic 77 shoeboxes.
Thank you to everyone for your generosity. Your
contribution will make a difference to those in
