Newsletter
Message from the Principal -
Mr P Mulholland
“We are delighted with the positive start to the
new school year and this newsletter gives you
all a flavour of the wide range of events that
have taken place in the first half-term. We have
also had successful and well attended parents’
evenings for the Primary Phase and Year 13.
All Secondary Phase parents and carers should
have received (via the Parents’ Gateway) an
‘approach to learning’ report and this gives us an
excellent indication of how effectively students
are working. Our expectation is that every child
has a Good or Outstanding approach to learning
and all our Year 7 students have achieved this
target! If your child has not achieved at least
a good approach to learning, then please get in
touch with his/her Form Tutor or Head of Year
so that we can work together to ensure an
improvement for the next term.
The expansion programme is under way
and contractors are now on site to start the
construction of the new Primary Phase building,
which is due to open in September 2016. We
are also working on plans for the refurbishment
of the new Sixth Form Centre and the Secondary
Phase.
Finally, we are working with Manchester Local
Authority over a solution to short term and long
term traffic problems and, in the meantime,
could you all help us keep the roads near school
safe for our children by parking and driving
considerately. We will hold a Parents’ Forum
about the expansion before Christmas when we
will have more detail to report.
Thank you again for your
continued support and we are
looking forward to another
successful term.”
Fundraising Achievement
On Tuesday, 29 September, the Primary Phase held a sponsored
bounce event to raise money for UNICEF to give to Syrian
refugee children.
All the classes had the chance to bounce on the bouncy castle,
and some Sixth Form students even volunteered to help time
them and count the bounces.
The children had a blast, while raising a huge total of
£2,346.55
!
Well done everyone!
