Y10 Young People's NHS Event

Tuesday, 25 June 2019

On Tuesday, 25 June, Mrs Brandwood and Mrs Shafiq accompanied thirty eager Year 10 students as they made their way to the Nowgen Centre at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Whilst there, students were able to ask questions of specialists from a wide range of fields. The single common thread to all these specialists? They all work for the NHS. There were nurses, doctors and specialist practitioners, from fields such as mental health nursing, paediatrics, orthoptistry, infection prevention and control, operating department practitioners, medical illustration, the dental hospital, medical engineering and the Sodexo services team.

A number of our students availed themselves of the skills of the orthopaedic team and had a forearm placed in a plaster cast or worked with the microbiology teams to put their aseptic skills learned in lessons to the test.

Should any students wish to find out more about careers in the NHS or about volunteering opportunities, please come see the information board in S14 or visit www.healthcareers.nhs.uk
