WHGS Ski Trip 2020
/ Categories: News
Over the February half term, over 30 students and staff visited the South Tyrol area of Italy for the annual WHGS Ski Trip.
After an arduous journey, we arrived in the beautiful town of Gisse in the Ahrn Valley, at the Hotel Obermair. We had six full days skiing in the resorts of Speikboden (for four days) and Klausberg (for two days). Both resorts offered skiing for beginners and for those more advanced. The weather was glorious the whole week, with blue skies and amazing views.
We had a wide variety of skiers; from students who had never been on skis before, to a number of good skiers. They were split into three groups, with different instructors, who were fantastic with the students.
By the end of the week the good skiers were experts and the beginners were absolutely 'smashing it' down the red and black slopes. Everyone had fun on the snow and in the hotel, and a fantastic week was had by all.
Thanks goes to Armin who was unanimously voted the 'Tourist of the Week.' It is hard to single one student out, as they were all a credit to WHGS, but Armin was great company all week and kept everyone on their toes with his good conversation and funny remarks.
Lastly, thanks go to Miss Bretherton, Mr MacCallum and Mr Jones, who went above and beyond to make sure all the students had a wonderful week in Italy. It was most definitely my pleasure to be there with them.
