EEF 7 Top Reading Tips

Friday, 12 February 2021

As we approach half term, we would like to share with our parents/carers, a resource from the Education Endowment Foundation that they may find useful when listening to their child read. The resource shares 7 Top Tips to support reading at home

At WHGS we recommend that children read for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, to develop their language and communication and to improve their reading skills.

Establishing a daily reading routine is also an opportunity for children to read for pleasure. Given these difficult times, it is important to find the time to relax and enjoy the journey a book can take you on.

Additional literacy/EAL resources and reading lists are also available on the website:

www.whgs-academy.org/learning-from-home/literacy-resources

We hope you find the 7 Top Tips helpful in assisting you with shared reading. Happy reading!

Have a lovely half term.
