WHGS Student Selected as Part of the Honour Guard at Sir Captain Tom's Funeral

Wednesday, 3 March 2021

The school was proud to hear that one of our former students, Alfie Gibson, was chosen to be part of the Honour Guard at Captain Sir Tom's Funeral.

Alfie Gibson joined William Hulme's Grammar School in September 2015. He left the school after completing his GCSEs to take up a career in the Armed Forces.  He has excelled in his chosen career and is a now a Junior Corporal.

Alfie had the honour to attend Captain Sir Tom's funeral as part of the Honour Guard. He was one of five to be chosen from 900 junior soldiers. This is an outstanding achievement and recognition of Alfie's hard work and determination since joining the Army.

Both Mr and Mrs Gibson are incredibly proud of Alfie, as are we all at William Hulme's Grammar School. We wish Alfie every success for the future.

Mr Gibson has assured us that when things return to normal, Alfie will pop in to see the staff who worked with him at WHGS. Now that would be lovely!
