Our Primary Phase children loved celebrating World Book Day, both at home and at school, this year! Each class took part in many exciting activities that helped them develop and share their love of different books and authors.
One of their favourite parts of the day was taking part in ‘The Masked Reader’. Members of the Primary Phase Leadership Team disguised themselves and read a story. Each class watched the videos and had to try and guess who was under the mask, before the big reveal! The children found it very funny! Can you guess who the Masked Readers are?
The children also did lots of other activities on the day. They watched live author sessions with some of their favourite authors: Zanib Mian, Joseph Coehlo and Tom Fletcher, they created some fantastic pieces of artwork and discussed some of their favourite books and authors. What a fantastic day!
Year 5 celebrated World Book Day for the full week, to express their love of reading, books and authors. They celebrated the English text, Amal Unbound, by creating their own front covers, reflecting the running themes of their lives, what images represented them and how things made them feel.
After watching the teacher's Masked Reader videos, the children were tasked with creating their own. They had to guess who was behind the mask and they were such a joy to watch. Year 5 got extremely creative with their masks and tone of voice to hide themselves. They were also immersed in their favourite books and they created word clouds, using adjectives to describe their most-loved and most-read stories at home.
