GCSE Options for Year 9 Students

In February we introduce our Year 9 students to the Choices they are now about to make for Year 10 and Year 11.

Students will be given a booklet to take home which explains what different options and pathways  are available to them and this will be explained at a special assembly. We encourage our students to talk to parents, carers, family members and members of staff to help them decide which options and pathways are best for them.

We will hold a Parents' Evening when Mr Oldfield and Mr Mulholland will explain to parents about the options process and also about the reformed GCSEs and how these affect our students. Year 9 students are expected to attend this evening with parents, enabling them also to seek advice from subject teachers about how they are getting on in each subject.

Every student will be asked to attend an appointment with a senior teacher to discuss individually their most appropriate pathway. At this meeting they will begin to fill in an option form which must be completed and brought back to the school office.
