William Hulme's Welcomes Families to First Combined Open Evening

We were delighted to welcome prospective students and families to our biggest Open Evening yet, as we hosted our Secondary Phase and Sixth Form Open Evening together for the very first time.

The event gave visitors the opportunity to discover everything William Hulme's Grammar School has to offer from our secondary phase and beyond, from Year 7 through to Sixth Form, all in one evening. Throughout the school, families met staff and students, explored subject areas and gained a real insight into life at WHGS.

Our Head of School and Principal delivered presentations to packed audiences, sharing our vision for education and highlighting the opportunities available both inside and outside the classroom. Visitors learnt more about our ambitious curriculum, extensive enrichment programme and the support that helps every student thrive.

Across the campus, departments brought learning to life through a wide range of interactive activities. The Science department proved particularly popular, with live demonstrations and hands-on experiments giving families the chance to experience the excitement and curiosity that students enjoy in lessons every day.

One of the most valuable parts of the evening was the opportunity to hear directly from our students. Acting as tour guides, they led families around the school, answered questions and shared their own experiences of life at WHGS. Their enthusiasm, confidence and pride in the school shone through from start to finish.

Visitors also had the chance to explore our facilities, including our brand-new 3G pitch, as well as specialist classrooms, learning spaces and Sixth Form areas. The evening provided a great opportunity to see the school community in action and experience the welcoming atmosphere that makes WHGS such a special place to learn.

Mrs Heaton, Principal, said: “Open Evening is always a special occasion for our school. I am incredibly proud to welcome prospective students and their families through our doors and to showcase everything that makes William Hulme's Grammar School such a unique and inspiring place to learn. Seeing our students speak so confidently and passionately about their experiences is a wonderful reminder of the strength of our community.”

If you are interested in applying for a place at our Secondary Phase, don't forget that the deadline to apply is 31 October! Read more about applying for Year 7 or Sixth Form.
