On Tuesday 16 December, the Music Department hosted a concert in the Great Hall to a very supportive audience of parents, carers, students, friends and staff.
After an initial community food and drinks reception, Primary Phase singers and brass players entertained, joined by the lower school 'Harmonix' group in the Secondary Phase. To follow, 'Music 4 All' bands performed songs such as 'Teenage Dirtbag', with a vocal solo by Anashe and piano solo by Hannah, they were all well received.
After many of our lower school groups had taken centre stage, musicians from KS4 had the opportunity to showcase their talent. The guitar ensemble rocked with their own version of 'Dani California' and Year 10 GCSE musicians performed 'Do They Know Its Christmas'.
Our bands 'Impulse' and 'Murmurs' showcased a very high level and talent with pieces like 'I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor', which showed off their high level of skill. Vocal groups were strong and the senior vocalists' version of 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' in three part harmony had everyone clapping along.
Alumni musicians from the class of 2023 and 2025, came back to the school to perform 'This Christmas' and the All-Stars Cuban Band finished the evening with a Latin version of 'Feliz Navidad' and 'Smooth', featuring Jonas and Juno as soloists.
The concert finished with a final collaboration of all musicians, vocalists and the audience singing ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’. A wonderful celebratory mood was created, and we would like to thank the school community for coming together to celebrate students' talents.
Well done to all staff and students involved and thank you for everyone's efforts for making this live event come together.
