Year 11 had a successful trip to HOME in Manchester for their GCSE Study Day.
The German language film 'Phoenix' was thought provoking and intriguing, and all students watched with great interest. This was followed by the most impressive participation from our students in the follow up discussion. Poignant, confident, and erudite comments from Judith, Dina, Hasnat and Esosa demonstrated, that WHGS students possess a depth of knowledge and the ability to speak publicly about their understanding of difficult topics.
The profound discussion on Germany's reconciliation with its National Socialist history impressed the visiting lecturer from Manchester University and he made this very clear in his responses to all comments made.
Mr Evans, Miss Abukar and Mrs Sackfield were extremely proud of the mature approach from all students to this most successful day.
