On Wednesday 17 May, Year 7 students took part in a Squash Activators Session. During the event, the PSA Foundation partnered with England Squash and Manchester City Council, to engage with hundreds of school children and members of the public, who had the opportunity to play with a squash coach on the mini-courts and earn a free taster session at a local squash facility.

All students involved were respectful to all coaches and the environment we were in. As we were taking part, professional players were warming up in courts next to us and they were very supportive of the students as they did this. We really enjoyed watching the game in a professional environment and students were able to meet and ask questions of these players.

When we took part in the practical elements of the sessions, all pupils were enthusiastic about learning a new sport and the level of competition was intense. On the skills challenges our students got to show their determination while learning core skills for the sport, every student showed resilience during these sessions as they were challenged to try new shot techniques they had not practiced before.

The whole group got to meet Jasmine Hutton, who is the National Champion for Squash and she posed for a Q and A session with them. At the end it was announced that Asiya had won a squash racket and ball in the reaction test game for the highest score, coming second only to the professional who lead them; her score 42 and their score 45.

Congratulate to all the students for their engagement and enthusiasm.
