This year, Miss Bretherton has been running a rowing initiative with her Year 8 students. This unique schools’ rowing project was launched in Warrington in 2016, to give disadvantaged students the opportunity to row.

The focus for this group has been to bring together evidence on the contribution of sport and physical activity to the some of the outcomes identified in the Government’s strategy Sporting Future. These are:

•    Physical Wellbeing
•    Mental wellbeing
•    individual development

This is a great opportunity for students to experience a different physical activity type where they are challenged to learn a new skill but also support others while achieving this.

One student said, "I have really enjoyed being in an unfamiliar environment and learning new skills.”  Another student added, "It’s so much fun.”

We are competing in two more competition before the end of the year.
