Year 3 have been very busy in English lessons, and we are excited to share what they have been doing!
The children have been learning how to write letters. They practised using the correct letter layout, including where to put the addresses, greeting and sign-off. They also worked hard to write clear sentences and used different sentence types and conjunctions (such as because and as) to explain their opinions.
Each child chose their favourite author and wrote them a special letter.
In their letters, the children:
- Explained why they liked the book
- Shared their favourite part or character
- Asked the author questions about their stories
The children worked very hard and were very proud of their letters.
To make the experience extra special, Year 3 went on a short walk to the local post box to post their letters. It was very exciting to post real letters and watch them go into the post box! Now we are waiting and hoping some authors will write back.
Well done, Year 3, for your fantastic writing and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to see what happens next! 🌟📮
