Welcome to the Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening!
Under different circumstances, I would be meeting you in person for our Open Evening, and it is a real shame that I am not able to do so. Nonetheless, I hope that you will find the Virtual Open Evening informative and that it gives you a real sense of what the Sixth Form at WHGS is about.
I am very proud to be the Principal of William Hulme’s and the Sixth Form is an integral part of our wider success. Our key aims are to provide you with a first class education and to give you the experiences and skills that will lead to a successful future. The progress our students make at A-Level places us in the top few Sixth Forms across the whole of Manchester and you will see that our enrichment programme is second to none.
William Hulme’s Grammar School is no longer an independent school and the days of fees and entrance exams are long gone. However, we continue to maintain very high standards and expectations in academic work which are essential for your success at A-Level. Students here are treated as young adults and enjoy the exclusive use of our Sixth Form Centre, which brings with it greater personal freedom and independence.
Most importantly, however, you will find the Sixth Form here is a welcoming, diverse and supportive community, and this is something we value very highly. We understand that taking A-Levels is a big challenge, and you will have the support of a wide range of staff both in and out of the classroom. When we succeed, we succeed together, and if we can do it with a smile on our face, all the better!
Once again, I hope you enjoy our Open Evening and I look forward to seeing you next September.
Peter Mulholland, Principal
