Y9 Maths Trip to Leeds

On Friday 9 May, thirty enthusiastic Year 9 students, accompanied by two Sixth Formers and staff, headed to Leeds for a day of mathematical exploration and problem-solving.

Sixth Form Showcase

After months of hard work and practice, the L3 BTEC Music students provided a fantastic and entertaining programme of music which was filmed in readiness to be sent off to be marked by external examiners.

Henshaws Visit

On Tuesday 6 May, we welcomed our friends from Henshaws back into school.

Guests were serenaded by our KS4 and KS5 musicians. Upper School Vocals performed 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', our Year 10 band gave their own rendition of 'Sweet Child of Mine', complete with a stunning guitar solo by Jonas.

Primary Phase End of Term Values Reward

To mark the end of term, our Primary Phase celebrated the amazing pupils who consistently demonstrated our school values of Respect, Ambition and Compassion. Children who received a postcard for each of these values this half term were treated to a special Easter Egg Hunt as a well-earned reward!

The Great British Spring Clean!

During the last two weeks of term, our wonderful pupils rolled up their sleeves to make our community a cleaner, greener place! As part of the Great British Spring Clean, classes in the Primary Phase helped tidy up the streets, school grounds, and local field.

Y10 Eid Cookies

Year 10 Home Cooking students celebrated Eid by baking and decorating their biscuits with colourful icing, sprinkles and edible decorations, drawing inspiration from Islamic art and modern designs.

Year 5 Jodrell Bank Visit

On Friday, Year 5 went to Jodrell Bank to learn all about space and our solar system. We got to experiment, sketch the telescopes and visit the planetarium.

Y10 / Y12 Anwar Akhtar Visit

On Friday 14 March, esteemed film, theatre producer and ‘local lad’ Anwar Akhtar, Director of Samosa Media, visited WHGS to deliver an educational talk to a selection of Year 10 and Year 12 students about the importance of people with Asian heritage getting involved in the Arts and Cultural sectors and the importance of studying history.  

KS3 Rugby League Cares Workshop

Last month, Rugby League Cares visited William Hulme's Grammar School to run an engaging workshop with our KS3 students. The session focused on the benefits of exercise and promoting mental fitness, aligning with Rugby League Cares' core values of community support, wellbeing, and shared experiences.

United Learning Virtual Rowing Competition

WHGS has competed in the first ever United Learning Virtual Rowing Competition, where all of our partner schools across the country had the opportunity to compete virtually using our concept 2 rowing machines.

Year 4 Hockey

Year 4 have been lucky enough to have a professional hockey coach teaching us this half term.

KS3 British Cycling Experience

A group of our KS3 students recently visited Manchester Cycling Velodrome for an exciting taster session. The students had the opportunity to experience the thrill of indoor track cycling.

United Learning Leadership Project

We are incredibly proud of a group of our students who recently had the amazing opportunity to represent our school at Oxford University. They took part in the United Learning Leadership Project, working across our Primary and Secondary Phases to lead on powerful social action causes.
