This half term, Year 6 pupils came over to the Secondary Phase to take part in a variety of fun and challenging maths activities. We began by completing the Numeracy Ninjas starter — the same one they will encounter when they start Year 7.
After that, the Year 6 pupils were split into four groups and took part in a carousel of activities, spending about 10 minutes on each one:
- The Ball Pit: Students searched for prime numbers and factors hidden within the pit.
- The Maths Mat: Pupils practiced plotting quadratic graphs, experimented with tricky reflections, and worked on creating shapes with different areas.
- The Safe: Guided by clues from the Head of Maths, students worked together to crack a 9-digit code.
- TT Rockstars: A fast-paced challenge where students raced to answer as many times tables questions as possible in under a minute.
There were plenty of prizes (mostly chocolate!) for those who excelled, and Mr McMenamin was very impressed with how engaged and enthusiastic the Year 6 students were throughout the session.
Well done to everyone who took part!
