Y3 Manchester Art Gallery Visit

Year 3 experienced a little bit of culture last week. Both classes visited Manchester Art Gallery and took part in two workshops to learn even more about Greek Mythology.  

Book Club Party

We had a lovely little celebration with our Book Clubbers after school on Thursday, celebrating how they had finished reading 'Quiet Storm'.

Poetry by Heart Competition

On Monday 7 July, Hasnat in Year 10 competed in the final of the prestigious national Poetry by Heart competition at The Globe Theatre in London.

Y4/Y5 Good to Great Brass and J-Sax

Year 4 and Year 5 gathered to enjoy a celebration assembly featuring their classmates who had been involved in this year's Good to Great initiative. It was wonderful to dedicate our weekly singing assembly slot to a celebration of both instrumental Primary Music and singing.

Music Showcase at Band on the Wall

On Saturday 5 July, talented students from Years 9 and 10, were invited by One Education Music Service to perform at the prestigious Band on The Wall, as part of a Summer Festival.

Butterfly Day

In Nursery we have been reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. In class we looked after some tiny caterpillars, fed them well and watched them make a cocoon. We then waited patiently for them to turn into beautiful butterflies. 

Summer Concert

The Music Department hosted a wonderful Summer Concert to a very supportive audience of parents, students, friends and staff. The evening began with the fabulous primary vocals and brass group followed by an array of soloists including Jakub (guitar), Anashe (vocals) and Edlyn (violin).

Year 12 American Studies Trip

On Monday 23 June, Year 12 students from History, Law and Politics attended the 'Trump 2.0' Conference at the University of Manchester (UoM). The event was organised by the University's American Studies Department and consisted of a range of lectures by world-leading academics on the fast-paced and controversial changes being made in the US by President Trump in his second term in the Oval Office.

Y6 Science Transition Event

On Tuesday 24 June, Year 6 were invited to the Secondary Phase by the Science Department for an immersive experience to support their "Functions of the Human Body" learning.

Y4 Pankhurst Museum Visit

On Friday, Year 4 visited the inspiring Pankhurst Museum to deepen our understanding of Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragette movement.

Nursery Sports Day

Our Nursery children had a ball in the sunshine last week, at their Sports Day.

WOW Factor 2025

Thursday 19 June marked the return of WHGS's annual talent show - the Wow Factor. The evening was a huge success thanks to all our wonderful participants and brilliant audience.

Year 2 Reading Adventures

Year 2 have been enjoying the story 'Somebody Crunched Colin', a fun tale about a piece of litter on a mission to find out who crushed him - and along the way, it teaches us about the importance of keeping our environment clean.
