On Friday 9 February, we hosted our "WOMArathoN" Challenge. We were celebrating the 40th anniversary of the formation of Women in Sport and 40 years since women were first allowed to run the marathon in the Olympics. Women in Sport was founded in 1984 and has a track record of success in securing change, based on its deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of women and girls at each life stage. Its goal is to break down gender inequalities and ensure that all sport is transformed for the benefit of every woman and girl in the UK.

On Thursday 8 February, our Year 10 Boys Football Team played Priestnall in the third round of the Greater Manchester County Schools Cup at the Platt Lane Complex in Fallowfield.

On Tuesday 6 February, one of our Year 5 pupils, Sufiyaan, took home the Runner Up prize in this year’s northern StorySLAM final, hosted by Cravenwood Primary School.

Tuesday 6 February saw our annual performance with the phenomenon that is Young Voices!

On Thursday 1 February, our Year 10 boys played Parrs Wood in the Quarter Finals of the Manchester Schools Cup at Platt Lane Complex, Fallowfield.

On Wednesday 24 January, we entered two boys and one girls team into the Desmond Douglas Manchester Schools KS3 Table Tennis Championship, held at Our Lady's High School.  It was a really enjoyable and long evening!

Our Year 12 and 13 Product Design students visited the Renew Hub recently, to see first-hand how Greater Manchester is reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, as well as understanding more about what is done in the name of sustainability.

A group of our pupils attended the Manchester Youth Indoor Rowing Competition on Wednesday 24 January. Pupils were all selected due to their involvement in a rowing project with Agecroft Rowing Club in Salford Quays.

Our KS4 Indoor Cricket Team played Trinity on Monday 22 January at home. In what is a hectic slant on the traditional cricket format, where you lose three runs every time you lose a wicket, we batted first and led with some tremendous hitting from Ismael and Edris. 

On Monday, a group of our Year 11 History students attended a 'Cold War Study Day', hosted by the University of Manchester at Jodrell Bank Centre in Cheshire.

On Friday 19 January, our Year 10 Boys Football Team travelled to Wright Robinson to play against their very strong A Team.

On Friday 12 January, our Y12 History and Politics students attended a workshop on US Civil Rights and Political Ideas in the 1960s at the University of Manchester. This consisted of a seminar in the morning, delivered by Dr Andrew Fearnley, entitled 'A Complex King: Martin Luther King Jr, 1963-68.

Our Year 10 Boys Football Team played in the Greater Manchester Cup on Thursday 11 January.  The game was played at Manchester Metropolitan University, Platt Lane Complex, due to poor conditions at WHGS.  Standish High from Wigan were the opponents.

On Tuesday 19 December, the Music Department hosted a wonderful concert in the Great Hall to a very supportive audience of parents, students, friends and staff.

Christmas in the Primary Phase has been a very festive occasion this year. 

We’ve had many exciting events, including the pantomime, the Christmas fair, Christmas lunch and, of course, the WHGS famous chocolate dash.

On Monday 18 December, our Year 11 students attended their Vocational Taster Day.

This term, we entered two teams into the Girls' Inspire Football League. 

On Tuesday 12 December, WHGS welcomed friends from Henshaws who joined us to celebrate the festive period with a buffet, brilliant conversation and music.

On Wednesday 6 December, members of the school choir were fortunate to have the opportunity to perform at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Performing in the main atrium, our students entertained both staff and patients, receiving a very warm welcome.

On Thursday 30 November, eight boys from Year 8 and Year 9 were chosen to represent William Hulme's Grammar School as Rugby Ambassadors for the TeamMCR Inspire Primary Tag Rugby Finals at the Platt Lane Sports Complex.
