A group of our pupils attended the Manchester Youth Indoor Rowing Competition on Wednesday 24 January. Pupils were all selected due to their involvement in a rowing project with Agecroft Rowing Club in Salford Quays.
The Competition format for the day was intense and each student took part in several races across the day. The various races included:
- Year 8 Individual - 3 minute race (girls and boys)
- Year 9 Individual - 4 minute race (girls and boys)
- Year 8 Open/Girls Relay - an 8 minute race for teams of up to 4 athletes (Open = male or female, Girls = female only)
- Year 9 Open/Girls Relay - an 8 minute race for teams of up to 4 athletes (Open = male or female, Girls = female only)
Throughout the day, all pupils showed grit and determination in their races; they were competing against several schools from across the North West. The fastest 24 athletes (12 girls and 12 boys) on the day were invited to compete at the National Indoor Rowing Championships in London on 1 March 2024. We had one pupil selected, congratulations to Maryam from Year 8.
