On Thursday 8 February, our Year 10 Boys Football Team played Priestnall in the third round of the Greater Manchester County Schools Cup at the Platt Lane Complex in Fallowfield.
In an extremely tight match, Priestnall ran out winners 3-2. The teams were very evenly matched, in a game that was played in fantastic spirit (but with a real competitive edge). We lost Charlie to injury very early in the game, then again lost Marwan to injury in the second half; finishing the game with just 11 fit players.
At half time we were unlucky to be 2-0 down, then going 3-0 down early in the second half. We were still creating lots of chances to score and, as we entered the last 15 minutes, we quickly scored two goals through Zak and Samad, which led to us pulling out all the stops for the last 10 minutes. We came close on numerous occasions but, unfortunately, fell short.
The boys had their first great experience in the Greater Manchester Cup, playing schools from different Greater Manchester Boroughs.
